Via Dinarica Prokletije - Bjeshket e Nemuna via Maja Jezerce to Theth

Wonderful Prokletije mountains, what a nice way to end Via Dinarica! I followed Maruša's alternative route and did not hike Maja Jezerces. I was planning to sleep at Zastan Karaula but a couple of shepherds was living there! So I pitched the tent by the water spring a bit above the hut. Hiked Maja Rosit the next day, steep but 'easy' hike with no technical difficulties. The shepherd and another hiker told me about a shortcut from the lakes to Maja Rosit (not on the map) but I could not find the path so had to go down to Zastan Karaula then up to the lakes (where I saw some markings of the shortcut...). Amazing camping spot by the last lake.

5 stars for alternative trail I hiked (can't rate a trail I didn't hike). Water by the road when you go out of Gusinje (it's on the map) and by Restoran Grlja. Here are few wooden "houses" without walls for a break. We slept at Zastan Karaula, one room actually looks quite nice (on photos), so we decided to stay here. There is water inside, but you can find water by Katun Zastan as well. My plan was to go on Maja jezerce lighweight from here. I asked some hikes who just hiked this trail about it. Last part is quite climbing one, so it's definitelly too hard for my dog. So especially because of him but also because I didn't have equipment I think I should have (helmet, good hiking boots, maybe ice axe and crampons as well) I decided not to go up. But because I really wanted to go on a peak, I went on Rosni vrh (I think the third highest mountain in MNE). Trail is marked, normal hiking trail without any climbing parts. You have beautiful views on Maja Jezerce and all the peaks around. I left all the gear I didn't need in Zastan Karaula. When I returned back in the afternoon I went to the lakes, where you have some flat spots for your tent. It's great to swim at the last one. Worth to come here. On the next day I took a trail that goes on Qafa Jezerces and then you descent to VD trail at 25,2km. Beautiful trail! No climbing parts. There is a spring by the trail (blue circle on the map). I signed trail I took with yellow on the photos, if anyone would be interested in hiking the same one. I think it's a great alternative, if you don't go on Maja Jezerce, but you still want to go on a peak and do as much as VDT as possible. Next water source is a little bit before the fist campground in Theth, you can find few almost flat spots for your tent here. Shop by a reastaurant Jezerca, really small, mostly just snacks, but still more than in the one in Vermosh.

Great mountains, also the alternative route to avoid Maja Jezerce has a lot of nice views to offer. The lake area up at 1750m had nice places for camps. I wanted to do Jezerce as the last Mountain and stage of my trail but this time I listened to the warnings in the comment section of the bad unmarked GPS "trail" on the descent to teth. In a group of 2-3 persons I would have done it but the risks seem to be too high alone up there.The OA maps show 3 trails going off the direction Jezerce, the last one doesn't exist , you have to climb a steep snowfield and it ends up in a 100m deep cliff and I had to go back a bit and find a way around it (freestyle). Teth had a very small shop and a Bus is going to shkoder.
