These are definite highlights of Via Dinarica and some the most beautiful mountains in the region. Note that Prenj is a tough mountain, very remote and wild, but for anyone who is up for a hiking adventure, it is highly recommended.
This tour involves 4x4 transfers on the second day, and the last day is a combination of a cultural tour, swimming in the lake and/or rafting.
Day 1 – Arrival to Blidinje Nature park, drive to the lake and drive to the trailhead located near the Monastery Masna Luka. Hiking to Vilinac mountain hut. Stay overnight in the highest mountain hut in the Dinaric Alps. Hiking time 6 h.
Day 2- Hiking Čvrsnica mountain via Plasa. Highlights are a rock phenomenon Rebel’s door, Crvenjak tarn and Trinjaca summit. Descend down to forest road where a 4x4 vehicle will be waiting. Transfer to Jablanica (optional WW2 bridge and museum visit), and have lunch in one of the restaurants by the road (traditional lamb roasted on a spit if preferred). Overnight in Jablanica.
Hiking time 6 h (4+2). Driving time 2 h (45+ 1,15 min).
Day 3 – Transfer to a trailhead to Medjuprenje. Hiking to Medjuprenje mountain hut. Hiking on Prenj mountain. Highlights: views over Prenj summits and karst amphitheaters of Zakanatar. Arrival to Tisovica valley and Vrutak mountain hut.
Hiking time 5 h.
Day 4 – Hiking on Prenj mountain. Optional: Ascent to highest summit Zelena Glava (hard, exposed, involves scrambling).
