Vošac is a popular and important point on Biokovo, with two main hiking approaches from Makarska to Sv. Jure leading next to it, and it is also accessible along the nearby Biokovo Road. This peak is located on the littoral edge of the Biokovo plateau, and it is one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Biokovo. The mountain lodge Vošac is located on the peak, managed by the speleological club SAK Ekstrem from Makarska. Mountain lodge Vošac is a facility made of masonry, originally built after World War II for military purposes, but soon abandoned. The facility remained completely dilapidated for several decades, until members of the SAK Ekstrem club thoroughly renovated it and adapted it for hiking visits.

View: The view from the peak offers a bird's-eye view of the settlements and beaches of the coastal area of Makarska and of the city of Makarska itself.

Seal: Metal seal is to the left of the door of the mountain lodge on the peak.

Getting there

Approaches:
  • Makarska – Makar – mountain hut below Vošac 3.45 h
  • Makarska –Kotišina Botanical Garden – mountain hut below Vošac 4 h

Most visitors reach the peak of Vošac from the abandoned mountain hut below Vošac, where one branch of the Biokovo Road ends. It takes 30 minutes of hiking to climb from the mountain hut below Vošac in Kapetanov dolac to the Vošac peak itself. Hikers who start their climb to Biokovo on foot from Makarska have two available route options – one across Makar, and one across Kotišina. Both routes are long and hard due to major elevation difference.

Although it is lower and separated from the central part of Biokovo, the mountain of Rilić is a natural southeastern extension of Biokovo.
