It's a round walk which encompasses four peaks of Mt Visočica: Baturak, Glatko, Kom and Crveni kuk. It is not technically demanding, though the ascent to Kom is rather steep.

This walk includes four peaks of Mt Visočica whose altitude ranges from 1700 to 1800 metres: Baturak (1767 MASL), Glatko (1791 MASL), Kom (1778 MASL) and Crveni kuk (1733 MASL). Although the difference in altitude between the lowest (village of Sinanovići) and the highest point (summit Glatko) is just over 500 metres, to complete te route you have to master around 1000 metres of ascent, because you have to descend into the valley between every two peaks.

The starting point is the village of Sinanovići. Take the macadam road to the Puzim cemetery. After you reach the peak Baturak follow the ridge to the peak Glatko. The ascent to this peak is gentle. At 1791 MASL, Glatko is the highest peak of this walk. The ascent between Glatko and Kom is a lot steeper and longer because you have to descend very low into the valley first. There is a large ridge between the peaks which you either have to cross or go around. Both options are demanding because of the sloping terrain and slippery rocks. After the ridge there is one final ascent up a steep grassy slope. From the top of Kom, Crveni kuk and Puzim are visible to the north. Skirt the ridge below from the righ and descend the rocky patch to the southern ridge of Crveni Kuk.

From the top of Crveni kuk you can see all the four peaks of this walk, as well as the whole panorama of Mt Visočica. The way back is the same road below Puzim, towards Sinanovići.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Sinanovići turn right on the road leading to Bjelimići. After about a kilometre you'll reach Jelenjača, a valley on the right. In springtime there's a great lake there. Go down to the valley and continue south, parallel with the road which is now on your left. At the end of the valley enter the grove and follow the marked trail to the foot of the imposing summit of Puzim. Descend on the road and cross the bridge to the fountain at the foot of Crveni kuk. From the fountain walk another 500 metres down the road, then turn left and up the meadow to the summit of Baturak. From the top, follow the ridge south to Glatko, then descend onto the easter saddle where the ascent to Kom starts. On your way back from Kom, do not go to Glatko but descent into the valley to the northeast, in the direction of Crveni kuk. The trail is not marked there, and you have to find the easiest path between the rocks. From the valley climb up the ridge to Crveni kuk, then come down the grassy slope on the other side to the fountain, and take the road below Puzim back to Sinanovići.

Public transport

Van to Sinanovići.

By road

Take M18 to Krupac, right after the quarry turn right onto R442a towards Mt Bjelašnica and Mt Igman. When you reach Hotel Maršal on Bjelašnica continue straight ahead, then descend all the way down to Šabići. From Šabići continue to the right till you reach the junction where the road to Umoljani branches off. Turn left across the bridge and straight all the way to Tušila.

Parking

Park at the lay-by.
