The walk isn't technically demanding. It doesn't require high levels of fitness. The first part goes through the forest, when you come out to the western ridge the view of the surrounding mountains is wonderful.

This time our goal is to reach the summit of Trebević via western ridge. The route starts in front of the Napredak Mountain Lodge. This Lodge is only 10 kilometers away from the city center so it can also be reached by people who do not own a car (it can be reached by taking a taxi or van that goes to Brus picnic area)
After some 500-600 metres from the lodge, the forest path leading to the summit passes close to the entry point for the only via ferrata on Trebević. It proceeds next to a spring with a rather interesting name - "Tri budalaša" (“Three Fools”).
Shortly afterwards, you will reach the destroyed Dobre Vode mountain lodge. The trail forks at that point: rightward path leads to the western ridge while the other leads straight, next to the lodge, if you want to reach the summit from the other side. This route involves taking the rightward path and, after about 1 km of walking through the woods, you will reach a clearing offering a beautiful view of Treskavica, Visočica and Bjelašnica. This meadow marks the start of the climb along the western ridge which leads to the summit of Trebević.
The return path is on the other side, leading through the forest just below the summit and running next to the destroyed Vaso Miskin Crni lodge via the path that leads to Dobre Vode, all the way back to the Napredak Lodge.
Author’s recommendation
There are many paths leading to the summit of Mt Trebević. If the weather is good and there is no wind, you should walk along the eastern or the western ridge, as this route will offer a better view. However, if it's windy or very hot we can reach the peak via the forest road and be protected from the elements all the way.
The trail is technically undemanding and there is no risk of landmines.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the Napredak lodge take the marked trail through the forest, pass by the spring Tri Budalaša towards the ruined Dobre vode lodge. Just before the lodge turn right to the trail leading to the western ridge of Mt Trebević. When you come out on the clearing head east, towards the summit which is clearly visible.
Head east from the summit, then descend down the forest road to the ruined Vaso Miskin Crni lodge to Dobre vode. From the lodge return to the PD Napredak lodge via the marked road.

Public transport
Taxi or city van from Latinska ćuprija to the station "Pino Nature Hotel".
Getting there
By car, taxi or van via Grbavica to Vraca, then on to the car park Ravne ("Pino Nature Hotel"). Follow the sign that reads "Napretkov dom" (PD Napredak lodge) down the asphalt road, it takes 15 minutes to reach the lodge, your departure point.
