Educational theme trail „Along the Paths of Past“ in Una National park

While hiking along this trail, through information boards you can learn about gradine, old fortified towns - burgs, fortresses, towers and sacral objects of the park which date back from pre-historic period, the antique times, the middle ages, period of the Ottoman rule until now. Many of the historical objects along the route are in poor condition and lie in ruins, and some of them are restricted for visitors, yet they can still tell the story of the turbulent history of this area as well as picture cultural and religious diversity of people who have lived here and their ways of living, legends and customs. Most of the objects and sites are shown on the map of the park.

In the past, due to traffic isolation of the area, this route was of large importance for local population because it led to the nearest station on the Una railroad, and it was often used for transport of grain to the water mills which were once scattered around and on Štrbački buk waterfalls.
