Krvavac via Greda

From Umoljani a short ascent leads to the village of Gradina, where you can fill up your water bottles, then turn right and follow the trail to Crveni klanac (flat ground, 15 minutes of walking). After you cross Crveni klanac and a gentle decline, you reach the plain of Dugo polje, known as the Desert of Bjelašnica, which is cut in half by a macadam road leading to Lukomir, another remote village. When you reach Dugo polje, you will see a weekend house, above which the ascent continues all the way to Greda - an unusual ridge to the left of Kotlovi, an enormous ravine. This is an ideal resting spot, because what follows is the ascent to the top, through the scrub. The view from the summit is spectacular, encompassing a number of mountains in the region, from Visočica and Prenj, to the whole of Bjelašnica, and many others.

The trail is well marked, there is no risk of land mines, but fellwalkers often find tracks of wolves and bears, so it's recommended to stay in groups and have firecrackers and whistles on hand. The route is not demanding, and it takes around five hours both ways.
