Nahorevo - Skakavac Waterfall
Destination Sarajevo
Just ten kilometers from downtown Sarajevo, the area around Skakavac Waterfall is ideal for a day trip to nature for the whole family
This natural area covers 1430.7 hectares and is rich in plant and animal species, and there are marked trails for walking and biking leading to the 98m high Skakavac Waterfall.
From the center of the town towards Skakavac, there is the minibus line no. 69 departing from the bus terminal on Sutjeska Street, towards Nahorevo. The last stop Nahorevo is also the point from which your walking adventure begins, and you need to do is to follow the paved path and directions to Skakavac. After the only major climb on the route, you will reach the end of the paved road and continue your walk along the broad macadam road, all the way to the Promaja lodge where you can refresh yourself with local delicacies. This spot is about 3.5 km away, or just over an hour's walk from the bus station.
Behind the Promaja lodge there is a sign indicating the entrance to the Protected Natural Area, and then you continue your walk along the right-hand side of the macadam road until the turn sign towards Skakavac Waterfall. On the path leading through the forest you will reach a vantage point above the waterfall and then go down the stairs to the foot of this remarkable natural phenomenon.
Skakavac Waterfall is the farthest point of this route, and the return follows the other side of the natural area through the forest, a marked path all the way to Promaja lodge, and further along a macadam and asphalt road to the Nahorevo bus station.
